Joel Powell is a lifelong Jacksonville resident specializing in personal injury, wrongful death, nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, and product liability litigation.
Joel began practicing law by serving the Jacksonville community as an Assistant State Attorney at the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. While there, he gained extensive trial experience and worked in nearly every unit, including a prolonged tenure in the Special Assault Unit and Homicide/Gun Unit.
After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, Joel worked for a Fortune 500 insurance company, where he served as in-house counsel and obtained valuable insight into how insurance companies analyze and resolve claims. As in-house counsel, he also guided outside counsel in matters involving ongoing litigation. Joel was also appointed by Mayor Lenny Curry to serve on the Civil Service Board in Jacksonville, which he did for two years.
When away from his practice of law, Joel enjoys the outdoors and hiking with his wife and two dogs, Sammie and Conan. He is an avid college football fan, enjoys the outdoors, and loves live music.
