Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-95 near St. Augustine Saturday. A St. Augustine man was driving a Toyota Camry involved in a horrible crash that included two tractor-trailer trucks around 5 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The two trucks and the Camry were northbound on I-95 when one of the trucks swerved in an attempt to avoid the second truck, but struck the rear of the Camry instead. The car then struck the rear of the trailer on one of the trucks, according to FHP.
The St. Augustine Police Department is investigating a crash that took place on State Road 312 Saturday afternoon. A St. Augustine resident died in the crash after he hit a Honda Odyssey with his Lincoln around 5 p.m., according to the police department. The deceased’s passenger is currently at Flagler Hospital with critical injuriues from the crash. The driver of the Odyssey was also taken to Flagler Hospital but is OK, according to the police department.
A man from Virginia is dead after he crashed on Interstate 95 near the turnoff to the airport Sunday morning. The Virginia resident tried to avoid a car in the center lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He then flipped his Honda in the inside emergency lane. The FHP said the other vehicle left the scene.
Four people are dead and one is in the hospital after a crash Saturday night on Interstate 75 in Gainesville.
The accident happened just after 8 p.m. at mile marker 387 in Gainesville just north of Newberry Road.
The crash involved two vehicles, a White Toyota pickup truck and a silver Nissan sedan.
According to a preliminary investigation, FHP says the truck was heading northbound on I-75 when the driver crossed the median into the southbound lane, hitting the car. FHP is still investigating the scene and has not determined what caused the truck to leave the roadway. The driver of the truck died on the scene. Investigators say there were four people in the car. Three died on scene, while the other was transported to UF Health in Gainesville in critical condition.
A 19-year-old woman was killed and two other young women were hurt Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 295 at Old St. Augustine Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. State troopers said a 19-year-old female from Vermont, was a passenger in a Toyota 4Runner that was driven by 19-year-old female from Ponte Vedra Beach. The two, along with a second passenger from Jacksonville, were headed north on I-295 when the vehicle approached a pickup truck, tried to steer around it and lost control. Troopers said the SUV struck the right side of the truck, then went across the lanes and struck the left side of tractor-trailer. The SUV overturned and came to a rest on its wheels, sideways in the left and center lanes. The passenger from Vermont died at the scene. The other two occupants of the SUV were taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth vehicle was struck by debris of the vehicles as they collided. That driver was OK. Channel 4 learned that all three young women in the SUV were students at Flagler College.
