Two SUVs were involved in a head-on collision around 7 a.m. Saturday that kept several lanes of Atlantic Boulevard shut down for hours.  The crash happened along Atlantic Boulevard near Brookside Circle in Arlington. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says that a Ford Explorer crossed the roadway and hit a Nissan

Saturday afternoon, police were still looking for another driver believed to be involved in the crash. “There was allegedly a small red Pontiac vehicle that the maroon Ford SUV almost struck when the driver lost control,” JSO reported. “Investigators are looking to identify and speak to the driver of the small red Pontiac vehicle to gather further details.”  Police said alcohol use may be a factor in the crash.

Unfortunately, car accidents like this one leave many questions to be answered. Why did this fatal accident occur? Were the drivers simply too tired to be driving so late? Was one of the drivers intoxicated at the time? Was someone trying to text while driving? While the investigation by JSO will hopefully uncover answers to some of these questions, the family members of the desceased individual may be more interested than anyone.

Learning that a loved one has died in a car accident is devastating. It can leave many families in a troubling state of confusion or shock as they wonder how something like this could have happened to their loved one. Many want answers to the questions above. An understanding of what happened can help a family assess their legal options and find some closure after a tragedy like this one. Hopefully this family and others in Florida who have been affected by a fatal car accident find the answers they need to move forward.
