News4Jax reports that a tragic accident occurred this past weekend in Jacksonville Beach.  According to officials, the rider and passenger on on motorcycle were hospitalized Saturday night after being struck by a car turning onto 3rd Street South.  Police reports that the motorcycle operator,a 21-year-old male, was taken by air ambulance to UF Health Jacksonville. The passenger was also transported to UF Health. Police said they both had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the driver of the car, a 63-year-old, nor his passenger were injured.  Witnesses told police the motorcycle was going north at a high rate of speed and being operated recklessly. When the vehicle turned left onto 3rd Street from 15th Avenue South, witnesses say the motorcycle hit the left rear fender. The passenger of the motorcycle was ejected; the driver slid along the roadway.  Police said charges are pending toxicology results on Dernick.

On Saturday morning, a woman was killed after being involved in a rear-end collision accident on Interstate 75.  FHP said the 31-year-old female was traveling in the outside lane in the Northbound direction when she failed to slow down and hit the back of another car.  Police say her Nissan Altima continued to travel onto the shoulder before hitting a tree.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those injured and with the family of those who passed away as a result of these accidents.
